Big Swim Day 2023!

Inverclyde Leisure are delighted to support Big Swim Day 2023 on Friday 24 February 2023 – because in case you weren’t aware…we LOVE our swimming pools!

Big Swim Day 2023!

Community Leisure UK's Big Swim Day is taking place on Friday 24 February and aims to demonstrate to the Government how important facilities are to millions of people up and down the country.

Massively increased energy bills mean many pools are facing the risk of closure unless they receive additional financial support.

The Big Swim Day is part of the #SaveOurPools campaign and is being backed by Swim England and a host of organisations and leisure operators.

It aims to show people's true feeling for pools by going along for a swim, attending a club training session or swimming lessons and then sharing across social media why they are so special.

Big Swim Day is an opportunity for us all to make a big splash about why swimming is important for us and our community. According to our colleagues at Scottish Swimming, Swimming is Scotland’s number one participation sport and brings a whole host of benefits including being extremely accessible, improves health and well being and is often a key part of family life.

It’s also a key pathway to some amazing sports, such as diving, water polo, open water, synchronised swimming, coaching and life-saving. There’s truly something for everyone.

Big Swim Day is really easy to take part in. And here’s exactly how:

  • Visit your local pool on Friday 24 February

  • Share your passion (and splashing!) on social media using the hashtag #BigSwimDay

  • Tell us why you love swimming and the impact that it has on you

  • Tell others!

Waterfront Leisure Pool will have extended opening hours on Friday to celebrate! It will be open 4pm - 8pm for families to enjoy a splash!

No Booking Required.
