.  INVERCLYDE INDOOR LEISURE BOWLING CLUB RISES FROM THE ASHES

Inverclyde Indoor Leisure Bowling Club achieved a remarkable turnaround in fortunes after their Gents team won a play off game at Coatbridge on Sunday, which will see them compete next year at the highest level of Scottish Bowling in the Premier League.
This has come only 2 years after they were forced to close their doors due to financial problems but Inverclyde Leisure intervened to ensure that indoor bowling continued within the Inverclyde area and as a result the Gents team will compete at the top level after their magnificent victory over Stirling Indoor Bowling Club.

To reach this play off game the Inverclyde boys had already had a magnificent campaign winning 8 out of 10 games to top Division 1 E of the SIBA Leagues resulting in the promotion play off game against Stirling who won Division 1 D with a identical record. They travelled to Coatbridge regarded by many as underdogs but produced a brilliant performance to win by an overall score of 80-66

.Early in the game both teams traded shot for shot but backed by a large and very vociferous support the Inverclyde boys raced to a 30 shot lead .They maintained this until the last hour of the game when a great Stirling fight back had the Inverclyde fans on the edge of their seats reducing the Inverclyde lead to only 7 shots but the Inverclyde boys showed great mental strengh to stem the tide and close the game out with a14 shot victory.

Wins on the rinks skipped by D.Twaddle, S.McLellan,M.MCLees offset the defeat sufferered by S. Wotherspoon to achieve a result that will see the top bowlers in Scotland travel to Inverclyde next season.
The Inverclyde Leisure team have enjoyed a marvellous campaign and great credit is due to all the players who have taken part over the season to bring about this wonderful achievement and also great thanks to Inverclyde Leisure for all their help which has enabled the club to reach the pinnacle of Scottish Indoor bowling.
